Prevention for Life
You are creating habits… right now. You are building the foundation for the rest of your life.
Serious stuff? Yeah. Even when you aren’t paying attention, you are designing your twenties, thirties, and beyond. The decisions you make, the decisions you don’t make, the kind of friends you choose or you let choose you, what you think is important… all these things are turning you into you for the rest of your life!
What kind of life do you want? One of adventure? One of missing out? One of creativity? It’s up to you…
Perhaps one of the most important lessons of teen years is to learn to stand up for yourself… to be comfortable with your choices. To be comfortable with your choices sometimes means you have to educate yourself about the pros and cons of an issue or activity.
We know, for example, that eating fast food day in and day out isn’t good for your body. So, knowing this you can make the decision to balance what to eat and drink. With most issues, taking the middle ground or a position of balance is a smart move if you don’t quite know what else to do. Extremes don’t work… as you delve into each issue and decision you make you will see that balance is a good starting point.
Take the issue of “drugs”. No one decides to be an alcoholic or drug addict. No one actually thinks about getting drunk and causing an accident or worse. No one wants to see their life wasted. But it happens… it sneaks up on people… it becomes a choice.
